UT Perry Casteneda Library

College of Texas at Austin spokesperson Don Hale told CNN that the guy equipped with an AK-47 fired shots then switched the gun on themself in the campus library Tuesday morning.


"The armed suspect is dead. Not one other injuries happen to be reported,"  UT Leader Bill Forces stated within an email to students.


Witnesses spotted a guy inside a dark suit having a ski mask stopped his face running in direction of the Perry-Casteneda Library just a little after 8 a.m.  Professor Randall Wilhite heard gunshots on his method to class and saw students scrambling to safety. He told police he saw a guy inside a dark suit transporting what made an appearance to become an assault rifle, at random firing shots because he went.


An ambulance was seen right before 9 a.m. while watching library SWAT teams, armored automobiles and helis encircled the campus, that has been closed.


"A suspected shooter in PCL library is dead. Police force are trying to find another suspect. If you're off campus, Steer Clear. If you're on campus, lock doorways, don't leave the structure,Inch a reminder around the university's emergency website stated.


Because of conflicting explanations from the guy and just what weapon he was transporting, police are trying to find a potential second shooter.


Hale stated the lockdown was area of the campus system where the community is notified through sirens, texts an internet-based.


"When something similar to this happens there exists a campus system which goes into effect. Sirens set off along with a loudspeaker announcement is created across campus for individuals to remain in place and remain in the structures they are in. This is the situation we are in at this time,Inch Hale stated.
